The Beauty of Stillness

Updated: Apr 8

Tracey Lynn Pearson, LMHP, LMSW

Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Boy is life different for me as I am sure it is for all of us. With all the fussing about social distancing and focus on what we cannot do, I sat quietly this week and asked God to show me what I am missing. As I reflect, the last few weeks have been slower, and I feel myself catching my breath. I think I have been running so much I didn’t realize how tired I was. It is then that I hear the words, “Be still and know that I am God.” As I have sat in stillness this week, I have noticed some differences in my life and felt led to share.

· I can hear Him clearer.

· I am more thankful.

· I am more aware of the blessings in my life.

· I am thinking and praying more for others.

· I feel more peace.

· I have a quiet joy I can’t explain.

· I am aware of some of my subconscious hurt

· I am starting to heal

· I can see somethings I need to block and put out of my life

· I am letting go of things I can’t control

· I am letting go of people who are bad for me

· I don’t feel like I have to compete, run, race, and fight.

· I am standing in awe more and praising Him from a deeper place

· I am still and God is fighting my battles

· Things I kept putting off are somehow getting done

What has happened to me in stillness can only be described as miraculous. Still means to slacken, cease, and forsake. My schedule and routine slackened and caused me to forsake my own baggage. As I go through this journey, I am realizing how little I really need and how little I really need to do. This time has shown and demonstrated to me what is a necessity and what really isn’t. There are some things I definitely don’t want to pick back up and get back into. I can only describe my intense gratitude for His mercy and allowing me to see what is really important. I thank God for carving time for just He and I. Not only am I enjoying my stillness, it is feeding and strengthening me. I pray that as you navigate through these changes you are finding peace too.

Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 amplified
